"Hyakuka Ryoran Exhibition" in Sendai - 3 Japanese paper Art works☆

Hello~☆

It's been extremely hot in Osaka since yesterday, how are you all doing?

Now☆

Three washi art works have been completed for the "Hyakuka Ryoran Exhibition" which starts today in Sendai.

All of the pieces were created with auspicious motifs and a theme of "auspicious things."

The base is handmade washi paper with a Seigaiha pattern painted on it and cut-outs are made from gold and black double-sided washi paper and pasted on.

①Fish-filled

There is a pattern on kimonos called "Takarazukushi" that is said to bring good luck, and I personally love that pattern. This paper cutting work is based on the motif of fish that represent various kinds of happiness, abundance, and prosperity, just like that pattern.

Seigaiha is an auspicious pattern that represents the wish for the waves to continue forever like gentle waves.

②The Supreme Mirror

The budding plants symbolize the beginning of new life, and the mirror is filled with various forms of happiness.

This work was created with the idea that there are times when it's hard to notice the abundance of happiness that surrounds us, but by carefully observing ourselves (introspection), as when we look in the mirror, we can realise that we are in fact surrounded by wonderful things.

The snake represents God and is meant to be a constant guide.

3. Peaceful time☆

A paper cutting work with a bluebird motif depicting the gentle flow of light energy as time continues.

This work also has a Seigaiha pattern in the background.

I created this design based on the blue bird, the Blue-and-White Flycatcher, with a calming image of the moon on a quiet night, with its light energy floating about.

These works are on display at the "Hyakuka Ryoran Exhibition" in Sendai vol.2, which is being held today.

The event will start today, Thursday, July 18, 2024, but it's best to check Cafe & Bar The1965's opening days and holidays before you go.

If you have time, please come!

I'm planning to go on the evening of Tuesday, July 23rd. I'm looking forward to it!

Well, it's been hot lately, so don't forget to stay hydrated!
