✣Japanese paper washi art✣
Hello~☆
It's getting hotter, how are you all doing?
This summer 2024 I will be participating in the "Hyakuka Ryoran Exhibition in Sendai vol.2" ~☆

I was introduced to this exhibition by someone who helps me with paper cutting, and this is the first time I've had the opportunity to participate in it.
The Japanese paper used in this exhibition is handmade by papermaker Tamura Tadashi.
My impression when I received it was that the washi paper itself was little bit thick, but how should I put it, it had a delicate, high-quality feel and you could even feel a slight roughness in the fibers, which I thought was really lovely.
It seems to be thick enough to be used for paper cutting.
This time I might not cut it and instead paste down some paper cut-outs that I made separately.
(Because it's so beautiful, I don't want to cut anything.)

By the way, since this is Japanese paper, I wanted to use a Japanese motif for the first time, so I drew "Seigaiha" (wave pattern) in the background.
Seigaiha is a pattern that depicts calm waves continuing endlessly, and it represents the wish that happiness and a peaceful life will continue for all eternity.
It is also well known for its kimono and Japanese patterns.

First time using washi paper! !
First ☆ Face paint!!(Japanese ink)
It's all new to me and it's fun.
I didn't know anything about washi paper, so I looked it up on the internet and in books, and also did a little research on Japanese painting. Being surrounded by new things has been refreshing.

I'm also planning to go to Sendai for about 3 days~☆
Yay ♪
If you have time, please come and see the exhibit.
